I haven’t celebrated so much since Euro 2004. Greece played very well and showed that it can be very dangerous in offense.
Let's take it from the beginning. Greece’s formation was a 5-4-1 system in order to have clean sheet. However, a foul kick from Outse and blunder of Tzorvas, put Nigeria ahead in the score. Thereafter, Kaita made an unsportsmanlike move so he was booked with a red card. Otto Rehhagel took the opportunity and put in Samaras. From that moment and on, Greece started an offencive crescendo, which had as a result a great goal in the 44th minute by Salpingidis, which led to the equalizer. In the second half, Greece pressed and in the 70th minute Torosidis scored. Nigeria didn’t push over and the victory came for Greece.
The truth is that all players were good, except perhaps Tzorvas and Vyntra who made several mistakes.
